Every Wednesday Night "Bodhisattva of Compassion" Meditation at the Beatnik Lounge.
The Bodhisattva of Compassion Meditation is an Ancient Tibetan "Transformative Tool," led by Sunny Sun-Downer every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Beatnik Lounge. You are welcome to bring your own cushion if you like, but there are many chairs available as well. Bring a string of prayer beads, or "Mala" if you have one. We usually start with simple "grounding" Chi Gung and/or Yoga Exercises, and then start the meditation by reading the text (which is provided) in English, followed by the (phonetically spelled) Tibetan words. You are welcome to join us in this manner out loud (or even just to follow along silently if you wish). The "Archetypal Deity," the "Bodhisattva of Compassion," (called "Avalokiteshvara" in Sankrit & "Chenrezik" in Tibetan) is thought by the Tibetan people to "incarnate" as H.H. the Dalai Lama. The text leads us through a process of honoring the "3 Jewels" ( the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha... or "Awakened Mind, its Teaching & the Community that Practices those Teachings") etc., and eventually visualizing our selves as the Bodhisattva. We then engage in the group chanting of the Tibetan mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" followed by a period of silent meditation, also called "Tranquility Meditation." We end the session with closing prayers dedicated to sharing the "merit" we have created through these "heart-felt compassion-engendering" thoughts to all beings, ourselves included. There is no "monetary charge" but donations are Love-ingly Accepted with Gratitude! Someone just came in a wheelchair the other night, so it appears there is handicapped access. May All Beings Have Happiness~!~
