EARTH DAY!!! – WEDNESDAY, April 22
6:00 p.m.: High Desert Homegrown Poultry Association quarterly meeting at Yucca Mesa Improvement Association's Community Center. The center is on Balsa just off Aberdeen north of Yucca Valley, CA. I will give a presentation on starting and raising baby chicks with many tips on care and feeding. I will also show sprouting grains and raising forage (fresh grass) for your chickens and other poultry. I started this organization just over two years. ago. Everyone is welcome, including children. Get the little ones started with chickens early! We encourage raising your own chickens for better health and wellbeing. Midnight: Lyrids Meteor Shower runs annually from April 16-25. It peaks this year on the night of the 22nd and the morning of the 23rd. Meteors sometime produce bright dust trails that last for several seconds. The moon sets shortly after midnight, leaving dark skies for what could be a good show.
