Sonic Succulent
8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.Artist Adrienne Adar will be sharing her Sonic Succulent sound sculptures and will host a FREE instrument building workshop and jam sessionat the HDTS HQ next to the Crystal Cave Sky Village Outdoor Marketplace, 7028 Theatre Road, Yucca Valley, CA 92284.

9:00 a.m. - NOON: Drop off unwanted prescription drugs and sharps at Hi-Desert Medical Center in front of the Helen Gray Education Center on the hospital campus in Joshua Tree. Keep unneeded prescription drugs out of the hands of children and teens.

Field Trip “Joshua Tree Architectural Tour- Harrison House and Bonita Domes.”
Meet at 10:30 at the iconic straw bale desert retreat known as “Harrison House” where Eva Soltes, founder of Harrison House Artist Residency program will talk about composer Lou Harrison’s (1917-2003) life and legacy. Musicians may test out the marvelous acoustics by using their voice as an instrument. A short distance away is the unique home, workshop and vacation rental business of Gabe Wendling and Lisa Starr. Gabe Wendling and Lisa Starr. Gabe is builder of the ecological “earth bag” structures on the property.

Lisa crafts shamanic drums and rattles and in addition teaches workshops on the art of healing with Drum Medicine at their Joshua Tree home.

$10 member $15 non-member.

0-DARK 100: SKY'S THE LIMIT Evening Observing Session
Saturn at Opposition: Saturn is as bright as it will be all year and will show a great amount of detail. The rings of Saturn are crisply divided by a dark gap known as Cassini's division. Yellow and brown equatorial cloud belts plus Saturn's largest moon, Titan, will easily be visible. In the 14-inch telescope, five or six moons appear.

11:00 a.m.: Pat Flanagan of the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council will be giving a presentation on the BLM’s plan at the Wonder Valley Community Center on Saturday, May 23, 80526 Amboy Road, Wonder Valley, CA 92277. Everyone throughout the Morongo Basin is welcome to attend and participate.

Opening reception, potluck, and overnight campout at the Iron Age Road Parcel, beginning at 6:00 pm (visitors may arrive at their convenience, but it is suggested to arrive at the site before sundown), with a guided tour at 7:00 pm. Sleep under the stars in the “Schindler House,” transposed to a remote destination in the Mojave Desert community of Wonder Valley.
