When newcomers move to the desert they make themselves all kinds of crazy promises, like they’ll always wear sunscreen and won’t junk up their place. Well, Saturday, May 16 is your chance to make good. Slather on the sunscreen and drop off Household Hazardous Waste between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at 62499 Twentynine Palms Highway. For details call (800) 645-9228. And while you’re in the neighborhood, drop off unwanted prescription drugs and sharps at Hi-Desert Medical Center between 9:00 a.m. and noon in front of the Helen Gray Education Center.

The summer issue of The Desert Oracle is hot off the presses and only $3.95 an issue or $15 a year at www.desertoracle.com.  Congratulations to Editor Ken Layne and his wife Laura Crane, former residents returning to Joshua Tree. The Desert Oracle will now be published from its spiritual home!
